Big Time’s one-to-one Acting classes align with LAMDA exam standards, offering a pathway for young performers to refine their skills and gain recognised qualifications. These sessions focus on key acting techniques such as character development, vocal projection, improvisation, and textual analysis. Embracing LAMDA’s approach, our classes encourage students to bring text to life and communicate with clarity and emotion.

For those interested in pursuing LAMDA exams, our tailored sessions are ideal for preparing monologues, mastering performance techniques, and building a diverse repertoire with guidance from experienced teachers. Through these focused sessions, students enhance their technical skills and develop valuable communication abilities that benefit them in various aspects of life.

Our one-to-one Verse and Prose classes focus on the expressive power of the spoken word, as outlined in the LAMDA syllabus. Unlike Acting classes, which emphasise character development and scene work, Verse and Prose sessions concentrate on the art of reading and reciting literature with clarity, rhythm, and emotional depth. Students explore a variety of poems and prose extracts, learning to convey the author’s intent and bring the language to life while developing vocal and interpretive skills.

These classes teach students to engage with language and literature on a deeper level, enhancing their ability to communicate with confidence and precision. Perfect for those interested in taking LAMDA exams in Verse and Prose, our sessions provide structured practice in articulation, pacing, and tone. By focusing on these elements, students gain a stronger command of their voice and learn to interpret and deliver text effectively, building a unique skill set that complements their development as performers.

Our one-to-one Musical Theatre lessons follow the LAMDA syllabus, offering young performers the chance to develop their skills in acting, singing, and movement within a single discipline. These sessions help students understand how to connect song lyrics and dialogue with emotional expression and storytelling, creating a seamless performance. By working through Musical Theatre pieces, students learn to interpret characters, convey a story through song, and refine their vocal techniques.

In line with LAMDA’s Musical Theatre exams, our classes guide students in building a repertoire that highlights their strengths while challenging them to grow. With personalised coaching, students practice techniques in breath control, pitch, timing, and stage presence. This comprehensive approach not only prepares students for LAMDA exams but also equips them with a range of performance skills that extend beyond the classroom.

We also offer preparation for exams with Trinity College of Music for students who prefer this syllabus and exam board.

Our one-to-one Ballet lessons provide dedicated training for students preparing for Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) exams. Tailored to each student’s level, these sessions focus on developing strong ballet foundations, including technique, posture, flexibility, and musicality. Following RAD’s internationally recognised syllabus, students work through exercises and routines designed to enhance precision, control, and expression, building the discipline and skills essential for exam success.

With personalised guidance from our teachers, students receive targeted feedback on areas such as alignment, turnout, and artistry, ensuring they meet RAD standards while progressing at their own pace. Our approach not only prepares students for RAD exams but also cultivates confidence, resilience, and a love for ballet that supports their growth as dancers.

Our one-to-one dance classes offer specialised training in Contemporary, Jazz, Street Dance, and Commercial Dance, providing students with the skills and versatility needed for theatre auditions, university courses, and dance scholarship applications. Each style is taught with a focus on technique, rhythm, and self-expression, allowing students to master the unique elements of each genre.

In Contemporary dance, students explore fluidity and movement dynamics, learning to convey emotion and storytelling through physical expression. Jazz classes emphasize precision, energy, and musicality, equipping dancers with the agility and control often needed in musical theatre. Street Dance sessions focus on rhythm, style, and individuality, blending elements of hip-hop and freestyle that encourage creativity and confidence on stage. Commercial Dance classes offer a dynamic mix of styles, focusing on the energetic and commercial aspects of dance often seen in music videos and live performances, which helps students develop versatility and stage presence.

We tailor our instruction based on student preferences and the specific skills that parents hope their children will develop. This personalised approach ensures that each student gains the tools and confidence they need to achieve their goals, whether that’s excelling in auditions or preparing for dance scholarships at secondary schools. With focused feedback and targeted training, our students are equipped to stand out as adaptable, skilled dancers.
